OpenBSD performs flawlessly on this device with native support for the backlight and multimedia keys and a running temperature of ~40°C, roughly 5-10°C cooler than it does under (Alpine) Linux with the same desktop.

I got this used machine (with a 17" LCD monitor) from a local Salvation Army [thrift] store for $100. Red Hat Enterprise Linux would occasionally report a problem related to the processor's firmware - the BIOS and firmware might be ancient, I haven't updated them - OpenBSD, however, seems to run fine for the most part: the USB mouse disconnects almost immediately unless X is running. Other than that, it seems stable and responsive.
