Default Networking between bsd and mac

I use samba to share directories between FreeBSD and other windows host on the network But I'm not able to figure out how to access shared directories from my Macbook.

Mac can do samba. Command k for go to server, then you can do smb://<server_ip>/share

You can also use ssh and probably nfs, as Mac is Unix--certified Unix no less.
At my last place, we just used samba and it worked quite well. The only caveat is that sometimes--not always, there would be problems if the user name on the BSD box was say, gcarson and it used the Mac default of GCARSON. I would always have the user change it to lower case.

We used samba mostly to keep it consistent. Yes, you should be able to map it. I don't have a Mac handy, but there was some way to do it--create an alias maybe? You add it to the keychain, and then, next time, they should be able to click on the alias and connect.

That's not a guarantee, I set this up a long time ago, and I fear I've forgotten.

Default nfs for mac

I use nfs for mac to bsd also. If you consider nfs in the future, double-check that the numeric uids are the same.
