fdisk, kingston dt101 G2
Hi guys. I need 5 post before I can put my question in a new thread.
I have OpenBSD 4.5. I bought a Kingston DataTraveler 101 Generation 2 (G2) pendrive, and tried to use format with fdisk, but i got this: fdisk: DIOCGDINFO: Input/output error fdisk: Can't get disk geometry, please use [-chs] to specify. I gave -c 1024 -h 63 -s 32 and tried others geometry, but always gave Input/output error when used write in fdisk. Why? How can use this pendrive? (my collage formatted to ext4 with fdsik in ubuntu, but I want to deploy an openBSD to it). |

OpenBSD 4.5 is no longer officially supported as of May 2010. 4.7 is the current release.
Quote:
This is not a guarantee that a later version will fix the exact situation you describe, but reading through the discussion at that time, it was thorny, & resolution was not always obtained. Installing a newer version is a better bet, plus, 4.5 is no longer supported. |

Thanks!
I tried with 4.7 but I have the same problem. I will look with 4.8 later. |

Do you really want to reformat the pen drive? Most come formated out of the box with msdos (aka vfat in linux) which can be mounted by BSD, Linux, Windows and Mac. If you want to make a bootable OpenBSD system on the pen drive there is some information in the FAQ,
http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq14.html#flashmemLive on the Web. http://www.magooswisewords.com/Magoo...nbsd-usb-1.htm One OpenBSD contributor has even made *.img files that can be dd directly to the pen Drive http://liveusb-openbsd.sourceforge.net/ Last edited by shep; 4th September 2010 at 03:15 AM. |
