Default Copy VCD film to hard disk

How I can copy my Movie from VCD CDs to my computer , when I type
Code:
mount /cdrom
I see I/O error and can not browse CD

i believe mencoder will let you do this

Hmm. A VCD should mount just like an ordinary CD.

Grab an ordinary CD and try mounting and reading that. If that works, please give us the exact error message when trying to mount the VCD, and check /var/log/messages for any additional errors that may be generated.

After all, we might have a bad disk.

I agree with robbak, VCD's have a traditional ISO9660 file system..

@mfaridi, have you tried mounting the file system like:
% mount -t cd9660 /dev/cd(n)a /cdrom
What's the /cdrom line in /etc/fstab?

Still, I believe many applications can play VCD's without first mounting them, VLC/mplayer... xine perhaps.

i recall using a program called 'vcdimager' but thats a very long time back...
