Intermitant fault upon booting
Hi,
I am using FreeBSD 7.0, and occasionally this fault occurs which freezes the machine during boot up. It always happens on power on and intermitantly happens with reboots. Anyway the output during which this error occurs is... echi0: <EHCI (generic) USB 2.0 Controller) mem 0xceeeff000 - 0xceefffff irq 23 at device 3.3 on pci0 echi0: [GIANT LOCKED] [ITHREAD] If there is a way too cure this error please let me know. Thanking you in advance, Jonathan. |

Can't find memtest86+ and more fun
The machine hangs after that output.
I tried to run Memtest86+ with no luck, perhaps I have the upper and lower case mixed up? Thanks, Jonathan. |

Memtest86 is a program that you run off a bootable floppy or CD (boot OS included with the port). Once the computer boots you are running the program. If this is what you did, and nothing happened, you have real hardware issues (assuming the floppy/CD is OK).

Okay I didn't know memtest86 was a a port for a floppy. I will try that when I have some $$$ as I do not have floppies (believe it or not).
There is absolutely nothing connected to the computer via USB. I booted with -p -v, and basically got the same messages. Disabling USB 2.0 appears to have worked, I just wonder if I can get by without USB 2.0. I Don't forsee any need for USB 2.0, this machine is a server not a workstation. Thanks for the help, Jonathan. |
