Default BSD Security for newbies

#
# These lines discuss some of the pitfalls of manual note keeping.
#

So I was like looking for security stuff BSD related on the web and I like write stuff down so I can look at like at another time except I totally forgot where I wrote this one website down at and I could not remember much about it except like it might be important and you can read about me trying to get some help finding it here:

http://www.bsdforums.org/forums/showthread.php?t=55639

So I was flipping through some pages of my notes on the day that I made my original post and there it was!! But that was before I had to like edited it cause CJ was like dude your post sucks like google can't index nothing out of it like change it or I'll cap it.

Anyways ...

I was like OMG! It was with me like THE-whole-freaking-time!! lol.

#
# This section describes a website as it actually relates to the topic title.
#

And the website I like lost but had with me is:

www.fbsd-dev.org

Ta-da!

I am not saying to run it just because it is there. Personally, I wanted to pick it apart first and see what it does and/or learn something new and you may want to too hence the reason for my post.

#
# These lines are left over from the original post before editing.
#

Something with the website is broke right now, but google has a cache:

Not yet, I want to read what they have designed it to do first.

The whole point in creating a thread is to ask about something or give information about something. This thread title is non descriptive, the content is just some links with no explanation and really i can't see why this thread even exists.

Can you put some more information in this thread or just delete it entirely!

Sure.

Instead of RTFM, think of it as CTFL.

michaelrmgreen understood the post, surely you can too.

It's not the point of ME understanding it - the whole point of daemonforums is to provide useful information that's searchable both by google and by the forum search function.

If you don't fix it - i'll just delete it

Yeah, I'd have to agree, when I first saw this topic I was like "ehm ... Nice for you ... But why make a topic?"

If I'd make a topic for every useful program or website I found on the net, then I'd have more posts than Phoenix at BSDForums ...

The least you could do is provide a few lines of description in the OP, don't let users guess where the links they click lead them.

On the one hand, I found the link to be interesting.

On the other hand, I had to go to another site and figure out that the main thrust looks to be post-installation utilities.

That would put this in the install/upgrade category, where a succinct post like "I profited from EasyBSD and its post-install tasks BECAUSE a, b, c, etc." would make it more than an advert for a site and save about ten minutes of poking around. If anyone has used the utils, please post at FBSD install/upgrade.

That being said, I would be interested in taking a look at post-install stuff next time I upgrade. Right now my FreeBSD server is running just peachy and I set it and forget it.

Good to see the BSDForums folks posting here. Sorry to see BSDforums go south.
