Default The Document Foundation welcomes Canonical contribution

From http://www.h-online.com/open/news/it...n-1194589.html

Quote:
The Document Foundation has publicly welcomed Canonical 's contribution to the development of LibreOffice. The Foundation notes that Canonical has added a full-time team member Bjoern Michaelsen, who recently left Oracle, to work with the LibreOffice developers.

Michaelsen is described as having a "deep expertise on the LibreOffice core". Canonical's work is expected to have a positive impact in the future on the Ubuntu and Debian versions of LibreOffice.

Somehow, I really find that statement alarming - when it says *Ubuntu and Debian versions*.

First thing they should do with it is to drop Java ... if the source is available we will build our packages, lets just hope that new development team will not rely too much on linuxisms.

Maybe the idea of building it from source has escaped the minds of many.
