I've been particularly found of Terminus and Inconsolata. Rarely do I care much for variable width fonts.

DejaVu fonts.

sans-mono works well for terminal emulators (xterm/putty).
serif and sans for webpages and ${everything_else}.

Everson Mono for its Unicode support, but it needs to be fairly large to be readable, so it’s not very nice for terminals. Terminus is my old standby.

I use Libertine on my résumé. Other than that I just use defaults when writing documents.
