Written in the late 1800's, and probably too long for the typical netizen's attention span, but still funny...

More geek star trek humor (You can download the MP3's, note that it's a legal download) ... especially the second and third one are very funny.

Certainly not! Well worth a read. The recent Ealings Studios movie version of it is worth a watch, too. Silly, of course, but good fun.
Maybe not if you take your Wilde seriously, but anyone who takes Oscar Wilde seriously needs a good larting!

Since we are degenerating into classic literature, I offer the following from Mark Twain:

It helps (a lot!) to know some German, or at least to have a healthy appreciation for grammar.

Ich habe lebe or something like that. I read it back when I was studying German.
As for Wilde, if you look at the Wikipedia photo, he looks rather contemporary--sort of like a rock singer, or possibly folk-rock.

Wilde is wonderful, no question about it. There really is no counterpart these days. Maybe Paris Hilton with a brain and a sharp tongue?

Speaking of, by now I suspect most people have seen her campaign video. It's really quite funny, and I was a bit surprised at its cleverness. She does it perfectly. (No, I don't believe she's so stupid that she doesn't realize its absurdity, I think she knew exactly what she was doing.)

The original is on funny or die, but that requires flash 8.

Back to Wilde, I've always thought of him more as a wit than simple celebrity, so I don't think Paris is the right choice, even with a brain and sharp tongue. George Carlin?

Maybe, but the art of the raconteur has been lost. Rubinstein did it for many years (in a good sense); I don't know a good counterpart these days where human interaction counts for much less than a You Tube video.

That would be even worse ... This must be the lamest ``joke '' ever ...

And George Carlin ... Well, I watched a few shows of him after he recently died ... Can't say I found him funny at all ...

Must be American humor ... Ils sont fous ces american

Hrrm, might be an American thing. For instance, there's a video that my nieces find hysterical. (They're in their late teens and early 20's.) What amuses them so much is that they know so many people like that. I suspect that many of we Americans know people who talk exactly like Paris, and yes, I found it funny and clever.

As for Carlin--well, I'm not sure what videos you watched. I think he was funnier in the 70's and 80's. There are some things that were just perfect.

Some of the lines from when he was funnier than political....

Although Stephen Wright is probably my favorite.
