Xorg & laptop
Hey all,
I got myself a good laptop for OBSD however I have run into a slight problem with xorg. The laptop has both on-board and a dedicated (ATI) the bios does not report any port information. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to tell xorg.conf to use the dedicated ati card on monitor 0 at 1366x768 / 60 hrz. The xorg its self is stock, I tried setting the default res to 24 bit / 1366x768 and it boots into a black screen (guessing the refresh is buggered) .. xrandr reports it can not open the video.. Thanks. |

Hey, Thanks
I attached a copy of my dmesg and I chopped out all the unnecessary stuff from the xorg log file into a text file... It does see the 2 cards but I don't think their supported or something's funky here.. I guessing that not everything will work on it because its brand new, (HP Pavilion G6 15.6" Laptop - Black (AMD A8-4500M Quad Core / 750GB HDD / 8GB RAM / Graphics Chipset AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670M Dual Graphics Video Memory Configuration Dedicated and Integrated Dedicated Video Memory Size 1 GB I understand that not everything will work with OpenBSD, but I was hoping to try and get it "hacked" into using an older dedicated driver or anything.. This systems smoaks on a real OS and IDC about gaming. But anything you can suggest would be awesome.. Thanks |

Code:
vga1 at pci0 dev 1 function 0 vendor "ATI", unknown product 0x9903 rev 0x00 More info here. This also may get sticky to hack, the gentoo forums indicate that a firmware file is needed Last edited by shep; 16th January 2013 at 02:13 AM. Reason: added gentoo link |
