Default qemu problems

Recently, I tried to use qemu but it seems I fell into a problem.

No matter what linux distro I try to boot, I get the boot screen and after that a blank screen with the process falling at 0% use.

Tried almost all switches combinations with no effect. Also, it seems I cannot find any info at the mailing lists or net in general. This problem persists for me at least for the last ~3 months now.

Is there any info I missed? The only notes I found are in pkg_readmes and do not include anything related.

Only system that boots/installs fine is OpenBSD.

Running -current amd64.

What linux media are you booting? What is your command string? What is/are the failure message(s)?

i noticed this with about 90% of linux distributions i tried in qemu. only after searching for hours did i find this answer so please give it a go.

when booting any linux iso or whatever in qemu, once you get to grub, press whatever key allows you to edit the boot line. usually this is TAB i believe.

once you have the kernel line in front of you, add the option 'noapic' without quotes and boot. this got every linux iso from then on to boot.

hope this helps, cheers
