Default Bug-For-Bug Compatibility

Hello,

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the stupidity of trying for bug-for-bug compatibility. It's a new implementation, so that means you have to make function exactly like the other one - with potentially new bugs in your own implementation. And then - oh, let's intentionally throw in some bugs for flavor.

Why can't they just make a replica sans bugs?
