Default rar archives on 4.5

How do you guys open rar archive on OpenBSD 4.5? I checked the ports and didn't see anything. I know that unrar and rar aren't open source but how do you open an archive that is in a rar format.

There are ports of "rar" and "unrar", the former is i386 binary-only.. the latter has source code available, but has a proprietary licence.

If you're in a situation where you need to extract an archive.. archivers/unrar does work.

You should never help proliferate the use of RAR/ZIP, the Windows programs "WinRAR" and "WinZIP" can read gzip/bzip2 compressed tar archives according to their websites, so I can't see any situation where you'll need to be able to create RAR/ZIP archives.

Although openports.se targets -current, it is still useful in finding what is available in -release. The CVS commit history at the bottom of each port's page gives information as to when it was added to the ports tree:

unrar is in ports. I recall 100% using unrar on 4.4. I am using it now. I am almost positive I used on 4.3.There is also archive suite called deco which can decompress many archive formats among others also rar. Note that if you are using deco file manager you will have to deinstall it as there is a name conflict with deco archive suite.

Ok...I'm on my 5th guinness but I don't think I'm drunk, but I don't see unrar listed anywhere on here http://www.openbsd.org/4.5_packages/i386.html

I also tried pkg_add -i unrar an got the could not resolve error.

I found it on openports.se but I was sure if I would have to move to current, to use that.

No, unrar was added to the ports tree in 1997:

I also don't find a corresponding package at the main mirror site. This may be due to licensing issues, but you can still build the application yourself via the ports tree.

I maintain archivers/p7zip, which also has a -rar subpackage (due to separate licensing).
