Default cwmrc can't see the paths to my scripts

My .cwmrc can't see the paths to my shell scripts, so I have to give the full path to each one.

This kind of thing works:
bind-key CM-t "sh /home/joe/code/paste_to_window.sh -b"

But this does not:
bind-key CM-d "sh paste_to_window.sh -b"

It doesn't need a path when running commands from here.
PATH=$HOME/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/games

This is in my .profile:

PATH=$HOME/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/games
PATH="$PATH:$HOME/code"
PATH="$PATH:$HOME/code/ed"
..
export PATH HOME TERM

The error reported in .xsession-errors:

sh: paste_to_window.sh: No such file or directory

What am I doing wrong?

You need to add the PATH to your ~/.xsession file where it will be read by xenodm(1).

See the xenodm(1) man page for details.

Thanks for helping, but unfortunately that didn't make a difference.
