Default Generating random passwords on FreeBSD

Install apg port or add package

cd /usr/ports/security/apg ; make install clean
pkg_add -r apg
Run command

/usr/local/bin/apg -a 1 -m 8 -n 50 |more
Read man apg for more information.

Some website offers an online service to generate secure password.

Or try the following commands instead:

dd if=/dev/urandom count=200 bs=1 2>/dev/null|tr "\n" " "|sed 's/[^a-zA-Z0-9]//g'|cut -c-8
head -c 200 /dev/urandom | tr -cd '[:graph:]' | head -c 8
dd if=/dev/urandom count=128 bs=1 2>&1 | md5 | cut -b-8
Change the length of the password by changing the number of the command `cut -b-8`


I know complex password is good, but its very troublesome to remember them
