xfce4 appearance
I've installed the xfce4 desktop under OpenBSD5.6, looks fine but the settings in appearance/style or icons don't take. There are choices shown, but selecting different ones has no effect. Am I missing an important package? I've been using http://www.gabsoftware.com/tips/tuto...n-openbsd-4-8/ as a guide so far.
Ooops - tried the obvious reboot and that cured the problem - who'd have thought it...its been a long day... Last edited by mechanic; 14th December 2014 at 06:26 PM. Reason: stupidity for not trying the obvious. |

Thanks mate, all running nicely now. No guest additions still for OpenBSD I see, how did you get full screen display and copy/paste for host/guest? I've seen other posts showing changes to an xorg.conf file 'screen' section for FreeBSD I think it was - does this work?

Ah, you didn't mention that you were installing OpenBSD on a virtual machine.
Judging by your use of the term "guest additions" I'm going to assume you're using VirtualBox. It looks like it's just a matter that no one has done it (maybe that person is you?). The downside is it looks like on FreeBSD at least, the video driver is a kernel module which wouldn't work for OpenBSD. It seems like it would be better if someone wrote drivers for VirtualBox and submitted them directly to OpenBSD itself. There have been some developers who have done this for VMware: see vic(4) and vmt(4) for examples. |
