UBS WI-FI CARDS for OpenBSD. Any recomendations?
Hello guys!
Well, I need a USB Wi-Fi card. I was trying with a ATHEROS TP-LINK TL-WN722N. But, it exists a bug with athn-firmware in OpenBSD for i386 architectures! So I can't use that USB Wi-Fi card. What USB Wi-Fi cards do you recommend? I would like to have one that be portable and potent. |

From the urtwn(4) manpage:
Code:
NAME urtwn - Realtek RTL8188CU/RTL8188EU/RTL8192CU USB IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless network device ... HARDWARE The following adapters should work: Airlink101 AWLL5088 Alfa AWUS036NHR Approx APPUSB300NANO V1 Aus. Simply issuing the command: $ man -k wireless ...will list all supported wireless drivers. |

Thank you!
There are a lot to try! That urtwn firmware is the boss! What can't he do? I hope to make a good card choice. Potent ≅ powerful, strong, forceful. Last edited by Nureo; 25th June 2016 at 02:09 AM. |

The Edimax EW-7811Un and TRENDnet TEW-648UBM are both easily sourced on Amazon and eBay. I use the Edimax EW-7811Un with my machines.

I have an old Linksys WUSB54GC (second-hand from local thrift store) which works fine with the rum driver for the ralink chipset, and it does not need to load firmware. However nothing beats urtwn-based usb dongles in regards to small size or low price.
You could also have a look at (urtwn-based) EDUP EP-N8508GS or EDUP EP-N8508, which can be ordered at www.dx.com for a few dollars/euros shipping included. |

Anything made in the last 10 years will support WPA2 Enterprise.
