Default unable to log in

I have Desktopbsd on one computer, and liked it so much that I decided to try FreeBSD 7.0 on my second computer.
Installation of FreeBSD went without any problems it boots up fine until I get to the login screen, where it does not accept either username or password.
I am and have always been the only user of computers in the house so I keep the usernames and passwords very simple, both computers have the same login details.
So I dont know why this is happening, this is the first time, and I am at a loss as what to do.

Can you boot into single user mode (menu option 4)? Most people don't configure the console as 'insecure', so a password is not needed there. The boot process will give you /bin/sh as the shell (just press enter when prompted). You can then perform a 'mount -a' to mount the disks, and use 'passwd' to set a new password.

or you can use livecd to boot, start fixit mode.... mount your disks manually
(basically you need root and /usr) to /mnt then chmod to /mnt and then use passwd to change password
