Default Fonts/Grafic and interface unsharp

Here is what I got (the right side). Every font looks unsharp, the same with pictures and windows.


first of all, I thought it could be due to missing antialiasing

but after receiving images like this (pictures on my screen looks like compressed images (like the zoom bubble on the top picture, right side))
I think there could be also another reason for ...

Additional info:
I'm using the radeon driver for my HD5870 with 1440x900 resolution.

Any ideas?
