Default Cannot start X from a non-root account

Hi everyone,

I got this error when trying to start x from a non-root account. Can anyone help me solve this issue?

Check the permissions on those files (and remove if owned by root) and your user's home directory.

How have you installed? I had something similar it was due to untarballing without all these flags to preserve permissions, including setuid.

The other thing might be that you are without your $HOME directory. It seems that you are logged into /.

That is a great point. If you didn't setup your user account during installation you need to supply the "-m" switch and probably "-G wheel" when using useradd.

I have just made a home directory for the non-root user, and I can start the X now. Thank you all.
