Default how to allow users to mount cdrom and usb flash?

Hi Amigos !

I am on OpenBSD 5.0 , I still can't mount neither cdrom nor usb except by sudoing ..
as a user I already belong to wheel and I chowned both /dev/sd0i and /dev/cd0a as mine and set usb and cdrom directories in my ~/ as mount points ..
still I can't mount both unless I sudo ..

what am I still lacking here ?? mmm ...

Maybe you need to change kern.usermount. From the mount man page:
Quote:
Only the superuser may mount file systems unless kern.usermount is nonzero (see sysctl(8)), the special device is readable and writeable by the user attempting the mount, and the mount point node is owned by the user attempting the mount.

There is a series of guides and howto's in the forum one of which should address your question.

I found it worthwhile to peruse the entire section.

Hi Denta !
Thank you !
I vi /etc/sysctl.conf .. couldn't find the kern.usermount=N which I added and put 1
yet the problem persists .. does it need a reboot ?

if so and because life is too short for reboots , how can I bypass that ?

@daemonfowl, to clarify denta's comments: the settings in sysctl.conf(5) are provisioned by rc(8) during boot. The sysctl(8) command may be used to twist most knobs at will.
