Default do not know how to repair partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone

I installed 6.0 on a new computer and there are two problems that may or may not be related. About half-way through installing the few packages I need, error message started appearing.
Code:
Warning: couldn't read packing-list from installed package partial-py-gobject-2.28.6p6v0.1
File /var/db/pkg/partial-py-gobject-2.28.6p6v0.1/+CONTENTS does not exist
Code:
Warning: couldn't read packing-list from installed package partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1
File /var/db/pkg/partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1/+CONTENTS does not exist
I tested the first couple packages installed after the messages started appearing and they worked fine. I installed the rest of the packages and everything is working fine, except playing videos. (The second issue.)

When applications are run through a terminal this message often appears.
Code:
File /var/db/pkg/partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1/+CONTENTS does not exist
Can't call method "has" on an undefined value at /usr/libdata/perl5/OpenBSD/Add.pm line 178.
I have no idea what to look for, so cannot even attempt to edit the file.
Running pkg_mgr caused this message.
Code:
Use of uninitialized value $fullpkgpath in string eq at /usr/local/libdata/perl5/site_perl/OpenBSD/PackageManager/DBIModel.pm line 215.
I have researched p5 enough to discover that p5-DateTime-TimeZone
Quote:
allows for various optimizations in doing time zone calculations.
I have not applied any patches to the system, because none of the patches appear to be related and I do not yet know if I can repair the system without re-installing. I am hoping the solution is simply re-installing the package, but when I try to install or delete p5-DateTime-TimeZone the result is:
Code:
Warning: couldn't read packing-list from installed package partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1
File /var/db/pkg/partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1/+CONTENTS does not exist
Warning: couldn't read packing-list from installed package partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1
File /var/db/pkg/partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1/+CONTENTS does not exist
Fatal error: can't locate partial-p5-DateTime-TimeZone-1.64p1.1
 at /usr/libdata/perl5/OpenBSD/Update.pm line 105.
So apparently the package was only partially installed, but I cannot delete it and install again. This is a first for me. Is this something that will create error messages but not affect the system, or will it be a bomb waiting to go off?

The second issue which I assume (correctly or incorrectly) is related is that video does not play properly. The audio is fine, but the video studders (the best description I can think of) with both mpv and Xine. VLC crashes before playing the file. Everything else seems to be working fine. If the two issues are not related I can start another thread for the video issue with more details.

Package installation and database errors

You had at least two packages which failed to install properly.

When there is a failure during package install, pkg_add(1) retains the partially installed package with a name beginning with "partial-". If the package database in /var/db/pkg/ is coherent, these can be successfully deleted with pkg_delete(1).

However, there is apparently damage to your package database. The pkg_check(8) program can inspect and repair package database problems. After running pkg_check, you should be able to then issue pkg_delete(1) to remove any remaining partial-* packages.

There is insufficient information in your post to tell me why your package database has been damaged, or why you have packages which did not successfully install after installation was underway.

Video issues

This will be hardware, video driver, and X Windows related, and there is nothing in the information provided here that indicates any correlation between the two problems.

Include both a dmesg(8) and the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log in your new thread.

pkg_check was very useful, thanks.

Oh, things like me, an i3 user, playing around with fvwm and accidentally closing the terminal while it was installing Midori.

The video issue seems to be my Radeon driver. The computer that died had an Nvidea driver and video worked perfectly. Videos become watchable on this new box when they are greatly shrunk. Reducing the container to about a fifth of the size the video is supposed to be makes a video watchable, but is very annoying. Although I am not going to worry about it for the moment. Since it is not an emergency it can wait for awhile.

You might have that backwards. Radeon and Intel are the two best working video hardware infrastructures with this OS. NVidia is never recommended -- usually because the only functional driver is vesa(4), which cannot use 2D or 3D hardware acceleration.

No, not backwards. I never had any troubles with the Nvidia G-Force. Probably because I do not use anything that requires acceleration. This Radeon though has trouble with videos. Perhaps a future project when I feel like torturing myself.

Do you not use Firefox?
When you had Nvidia probably Mesa fallbacked to software rendering.
IIRC you can force process using Mesa library to fallback to software rendering by some environment variables. This may or may not help for yours problems with videos.

And I'll guess missing Radeon firmware. An easy fix, if so. But we can stop guessing, if you'll just take a brief moment to ...

So you will not let me rest, until I feel like messing around with it?
iwm-firmware-20160412 and uvideo-firmware-1.2p2 were installed after the first reboot. iwm-firmware-5.11p1 and radeondrm-firmware-20150927 are also available. Perhaps installing the radeondrm firmware will help. I shall try it in the near future and report back.

Yup. # fw_update radeondrm is the likely fix. Your dmesg shows a Radeon video card but does not show the radeondrm(4) driver.

Look in the Xorg log you did not post for the confirming error regarding missing firmware.

A re-read of the dmesg shows Intel graphics is also deployed. You have one of those hybrid video card systems. You will need to disable Intel or Radeon in BIOS, so that only one is seen by OpenBSD.

Chromium (and probably Chromium-based browsed) also can take advantage of hardware acceleration, but on Mesa+open source kernel drivers (i.e. Gnu/Linux, OpenBSD) sometimes it fallbacks to software rendering.
Anyway mpv also has OpenGL backend.
My point is that a lot of software currently accelerates 3D and 2D graphics via OpenGL/OpenGL ES using hardware acceleration or fallbacks to software rendering.

He has Radeon HD 8670M. It is GCN-based graphics card. I remember that there were some issues with GCN-based cards in *BSD world. I don't know current state, [not]but I would recomend Intel GPU anyway.[/not]

Added
On the other hand he has i5-6200U. Skylake. Back in September 2015 there was an update to Intel driver (ported from Linux) and newest supported Intel's GPUs were of Broadwell generation (predecessor of Skylake). I would not be surprised if Skylake is still not supported.
So original poster (OP) can have too new hardware for OpenBSD system :/

I have upgraded system recently and I can add something about mpv on unaccelerated hardware.
mpv can use different kind of video outputs.
Default is opengl. It works well for me with acceleration by Intel's Sandy Bridge GPU. But I have dual GPU system and without applying patches I don't have acceleration. If I don't have acceleration xv video output works reasonably good.
It seems that, sadly, vaapi video output is not available in OpenBSD' mpv. It is in Gnu/Linux distros.
Code:
## prints available video outputs
$ mpv -vo help
## to watch movie
$ mpv -vo xv /path/to/file.extension
Or by config file ~/.mpv/config
Code:
vo = xv

My available outputs are:
Code:
  opengl : Extended OpenGL Renderer
  xv : X11/Xv
  sdl : SDL 2.0 Renderer
  x11 : X11 (slow, old crap)
  null : Null video output
image : Write video frames to image files
opengl-hq : Extended OpenGL Renderer (high quality rendering preset)
Although it says x11 is slow, old crap, using the x11 setting works. I can now watch videos normally. Thanks for the tip.

Update

Since the solution to get MPV working properly was a simple edit of the configuration file, I spent quite a while fiddling with VLC's .config, but nothing stopped VLC from crashing after loading a video. It turns out that the solution to get both VLC and Smplayer working with this driver does not require touching any configuration files.

VLC
preferences/video/output_driver/x11 (slow)
Smplayer
preferences/video/X11 video output (XCB)

Strangely enough, when I played around with the video preferences a month ago nothing I tried worked. Today success. It is a mystery how I managed to not accomplish this earlier. (Well, not a complete mystery. The word incompetence comes to mind.)
