Default No range from new nic

Hoping I can get some insight into my new problem. I have removed my intel3945 wireless nic for an atheros 5212 wireless nic. The 3945 had great reception and range but the atheros only works when I am in the room where the router is located. I have read and searched around but have been unable to find a solution. Any ideas??

Thanks,

divadgnol

Post the output of both dmesg(8) & ifconfig(8) with these devices attached.
