Firefox now uses GTK+ 3 on Gnu/Linux and OpenBSD
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo.../releasenotes/
https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-ports&m...4560502748&w=2 Mozilla Firefox in past used GTK+2. Now official build of application for Gnu/Linux uses GTK+3, precisely cairo-gtk3. Also port for OpenBSD is now compiled with GTK+3 support. Hopefully this also should help with porting Firefox to Wayland, which probably is going to replace X.Org in Gnu/Linux world in major distros (except Ubuntu because of Mir) in two, three years in default configuration. |

One issue with gtk3 is the print dialog. LPR printing is no longer supported, just CUPS.

Wayland, Mir, etc
Ever since Ubuntu 14.04, the Nvidia drivers don't play nice for me. Wheezy was fine, so I don't know what's up with the drivers. When using Ubuntu 14.04+ or Devuan 1.0+, I've switched to using the frame buffer driver for Xorg. I don't really care much about acceleration, so I guess it doesn't make any difference for me whether or not I use the full Nvidia driver. It was Firefox that kicked my screen into massive tear mode when using the Nvidia drivers. Most of the other graphical programs were OK. Using the frame buffer driver, Firefox is fine (both old and new versions of it).
The great news is that the FreeBSD Nvidia drivers work just peachy on the machine with the Nvidia card, no matter which version of Firefox I use, so I most often just use that OS. I guess the drivers are reworked for Wayland and Mir, so maybe when Ubuntu finally gets Mir up to speed, I'll have a working Nvidia again. |

It is not a thread to resolve problems, but you can also try open source Nouveau driver. It should be in default installation and Nvidia blob had overwritten this driver, when you installed later.
If still have these problems, you can open new thread. |
