Default Beep low battery

Hello,
On a laptop when the battery is low, there is a beep every 2 seconds, how to disable it ?
It's not the BIOS setting which is already disabled.

Welcome!

Please provide the complete output of dmesg(8). Without this minimum of information, there is virtually nothing anyone can suggest.

If I have to guess it
Code:
cat "keyboard.bell.volume=0" >> /etc/wsconsctl.conf

I see you have posted the same question to misc@:

http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=141782296229636&w=2

I have the suspicion that this is done at the hardware level, & no control is made available or taken advantage of by operating systems, but this is merely conjecture on my part.

If you don't get any further responses in either venue, look at whatever information is available from the manufacturer, and/or contact their technical support.

Good luck.

You can also try adjusting the volume with mixerctl; not sure if this will work, but I found a thread on a (Dutch) forums where some reported that this worked for 5.2.
You could also try fidgeting with audioctl ...

While I thought of such a solution, it is heavy-handed in preventing all other audio play. Maybe this is okay with tixx8542, maybe it isn't. tixx8542 needs to further clarify the situation, & his goal.

As for another (obvious) solution, the battery could simply be kept charged. If the laptop beeps when it is low on charge, don't let it get low in the first place. Problem solved.

Hello,
I contacted the manufacturer and yes it's done at the hardware level, I thought it was a setting in OpenBSD.

The only way to stop the beep is
Code:
mixerctl outputs.spkr_mute=on
But as says ocicat I will not have other audio play.
For audioctl I don't know.
