Agreed. CVS tagging has completed, and the Ports tree has been unlocked for -current development.

I used sysupgrade(8) to upgrade this time, which worked very well (as I expected it to).

Thanks to all the devs and everyone else involved in getting this release out.

A black metal song would've been very fitting.

I used sysupgrade(8) to upgrade my Zareason laptop and it worked great. Many thanks.

Did a fresh install. As I'm still *(whine whine, too bad I don't like wine) recoverting--gonna be a long process so hopefully I won't mention it anymore) I played around with a couple of laptops. The one that had trouble with X, the yoga 2, unfortunately still has the problem. My clevok a fairly basic laptop seem to be out to get me. I boot and see that iwm (a 7260 Intel) didn't properly update then I put in the info and it works perfectly. Next boot it doesn't with a message I've forgotten now but googling didn't help.
So wireless is unreliable at this point. Aside from that, seems to be working very well. As I'm not supposed to go out for long periods, I am not really affected by the wireless. I will troubleshoot further and see what I find.

TL;DR
Having trouble with wireless probably user error, otherwise, a very nice release for me.

Someone here can help if you can record your error messages.

I know it's more than 10 years old, but it's apropos:

What's showing as 10 years old? The laptop is, the 7260 card is newer, and I usually manage to get it to work with a haphazard attack
And just fixed it with a reboot and more importantly, fixing a typo.

I am sorry, I am blaming that on the meds.

Anyway, what I vaguely remember is some network cards that wouldn't link to a hidden network. If that's the case though, it is being random connecting sometimes--at boot with a host.iwm0 file, othertimes connecting if I first configure it iwconfig iwm0 nwid GOJGIMMI wpakey ScottIsAwesome and then, if I do dhclient iwm0 it will sometimes get an an address and sometimes not. I can look for more error messgages, not sure if today's meds will keep me up or not. Sigh, the fact that you're willing to spend more effort than I am on my own machine inspires me to do stuff. So thank you.

I think we might have found, a few years ago, that wireless was not working with hidden networks. For whatever reason, I've had my router hidden---sometimes. ya don't have to be the fastest gazelle, just faster than the next guy.

My results have been random. For awhile it was working about half the time, now doesn't work on boot despite a hostname.iwm0 file---there was a typo in there but it is now fixed and I believe it's correct. I unhid my network though, and it still won't connect. I try dhclient iwm0 and I get no link.....link sleeping. On occasion, with boot I also get this error

iwm0: could not add MAC context (error 35)
bsd: iwm0: unhandled firmware response

Heh and after all that---typo. Once again jggimi makes me look a little harder and I find user error.

Such is life and thanks very much jggimi for the help and the push. This time I really do blame the meds.

Just remember for next time -- we aren't there, looking over your shoulder, and can't see what's happening. We can only help you with something if you provide the details.

Upgrade to 6.6 with Xfce is working here.

I tried sysupgrade from 6.5 with Xfce. I messed something up so Xfce desktop appearance wasn't quite right and would freeze from time to time. Everything else seemed to work right.

I decided to try clean installation of 6.6, but had problems with installation media.

So I ended up doing a clean installation of 6.5 - syspatch - sysupgrade. That went flawlessly.
