For anyone else that stumbles this way in search of info on how to switch from syslog to syslog-ng on OpenBSD, here's roughly how I did it:
1. install package 2. review and edit /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf (probably minimal, if any, changes) 3. in /etc/rc.conf.local: syslogd_flags=NO syslog_ng_flags="" pkg_scripts="syslog_ng" 4. reboot Last edited by mjcross; 31st January 2019 at 08:19 PM. Reason: don't set -p in syslogd_flags as it's set in rc.d/syslog_ng |

Oh good lord, not more new stuff to learn? LoL - I've hardly got used to all this newfangled rc.d business
