I don't use that but I think I have seen reports on misc@openbsd that this is broken on amd64 current at least (i386 works but I for one no longer personally use i386). |

I'm not optimistic that it will be fixed any time soon since apparently too few people are affected. See http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-bugs&m=145979568820455&w=2. Jn the meantime I've inserted "machdep.lidsuspend=0" in /etc/systcl.conf so that I don' t find myself having to press the power button after absent-mindedly closing the lid. |

Update
After today's upgrade to the latest snapsshot suspend/recovery is working correctly again!

Correction: {Open, Free}BSD both have problems on this laptop.

I have recently bought used Wifi card for my laptop. Intel Centrino 622ANHMW. I confirm OpenBSD can use this card as usable, practicable network interface.

Still very, very new to OpenBSD and running -stable marvelously on a HP ProBook 450G1 laptop (i7 4th gen proc. w/ 16GB RAM)
Everything works great out of the box. I disable the switchable graphics and stay with the Intel HD video, WiFi is smooth. I run a herbstluftwm, everything else lives in the st (simple terminal) tmux and ssh. Now thinking about it, I wish I had a beefy desktop or server grade hardware to run this OS Have a good day all. |

I just installed OpenBsd 6.00 to this HP Pavillion (entertainment pc)
OpenBox WM, and some of the XFCE utilities, it is really working good. I had been using OpenBsd for some time now, but on a VM, this is the first time I have installed it on a Laptop, and managed to even get the wifi working,.... actually it "just worked",... so I am happy about this. Code:

It is just under, 3gb,...It seems to me like if I remember correctly, by accident I had downloded and tried to install a amd64 version of a Debian version, and it would not boot. Tomorrow, before I boot, I am going to look. I suppose if I was going to re-install, better to do it soon, before I really get a lot of packages, and files,.... I think I pretty much have all the packages I will be using or need installed. But new files, data, etc. accumulate,..and later it is more trouble to re-install. any way thanks. |

The processor reports in that dmesg the keyword "LONG" which indicates 64-bit support. Plus it reports it is a "Core 2 Duo," which is a major brand of 64-bit capable processors from Intel. That particular model of processor was launched in 2009, the same year as your BIOS. There may be more recent BIOS versions available from HP.
I can only conjecture for the reason Debian may have failed to boot, but it is possible that the boot failure could have been BIOS related. |

Your right, I also found in the bios, it is the HP Pavilion dv3, and it actually "shipped" with
a 64 bit version of windows vista,.. When I bought it, about a year ago, it had windows vista,..but was real "sluggish" . So any way, I installed debian 7, and it ran much better,.... Now with OpenBsd, Code:
$ uname -p i386 a difference, so I am going to try the amd64 OpenBsd,.. Thanks |

your OpenBSD laptop
I just purchased a lenovo Thinkpad (Tm) T430
Works well although I am not a power user. Last edited by frcc; 25th January 2017 at 01:59 PM. Reason: added dmesg |

You won't see any operational differences. But i386 has some limitations.

With my main computer, a MacBook 4,1 (early 2008) booting 6.0, I am finally returning to the fold! X11 works out of the box, (wlan won't, but that's fine), rest is to be determined.
