This is the first election that I have a chance to vote in, but I'm not - if by some drunken chance McCain wins after insulting the intelligence of the American people, I won't be able to keep my mouth shut for 4 years: if I voted against him.

Voted for Chuck Baldwin of Constitutional Party because Ron Paul said so. My son voted for Bob Barr; a last minute change. Still a good choice.
Rest of the ticket had a surprising number of Libertarians. Almost all the candidates were and, the ones who weren't, had CP candidates, so I voted for those. |

I want to do this, but Pa did put him on the ballot so I'll probably just write him in.

Ahhh, that's cool. They're good folks, many are friends of mine as well. There're a few places we disagree though, mostly on the porn-ban thing and borders. Quote:

Remember the CP is heavily built on Christianity. That being said, regulation of pornographic material at the Federal level is blatently against what they stand for. |

To quote the site above ``The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.''
I don't the think the `constitutional party' really understand the constitution, the constitution is a secular document calling for a secular government and state, where everyone can enjoy their own religion, Christianity, atheist, native American, whatever. Not a Christian state which makes Christian laws which reflect Christian values.

The WV state CP platform has stronger wording on pornography, or at least did the last time I looked. As far as overbearing Christian influence on the constitution goes, I think a lot of it is blown out of proportion. Many of the authors were not Christians at all, despite strong faith in God, they did not care for the church as an establishment or other aspects of Christianity. Read some of Jefferson's writings on the subject especially... I also see a contradiction in this phrase: Quote:

ok guys. lets keep this friendly
Theres much criticism that could be garnered around the board here. I won't mention Mr. Barr. I support the CP this year for my own reasons, you shouldn't support the CP if you don't like their platform. |

Oh, please don't get me wrong and think I'm being at all unfriendly. I just happen to enjoy political discourse. Politics is my second-favorite hobby after UNIX geeking.
There's a lot of criticism that could be leveled against Barr, especially given his voting record in congress. For what it's worth, I was primarily a Kubby supporter at the national convention. I've still got a green "Let freedom grow!" sign, too. As an aside, I'd be very happy if CP candidates did well or even won. I agree with them on the biggest issues, like immediately ending the war. Well, if people decide to become beligerent I'll just counter it with valid, logical arguments and intellect. No reason to sink to a low level. I don't think people on a BSD forum would behave that way though. It's not like this is a Linux forum or anything.
