Default Latest Slackware Version, Homage to Mathmaticians and Religious Overtones

The changelog of the upcoming Slackware release has some entertaining features.
Patrick Volkerding has never been a slave to strict numbering of his releases. The upcoming release is no exception. One release candidate paid homage to Figenbaum's constant and to pi. Now he is closing the cave on Good Friday.

http://www.slackware.com/changelog/current.php?cpu=i386.

Might be a little touchy if he has an Easter Day Release.

Well, it has been released as Slackware 13.37. The "37" comes from the kernel version being used. I would have gone to version 14 for such a change, as the concept doesn't really fit with 13.0 and 13.1 ... not to mention that 13 is an unlucky number (or, perhaps, gone backwards and started filling in at major version 5 that was skipped).

I use and like Slackware, but see no need to upgrade my systems now.

I'm sure having "1337" was a conscious choice for more than just the kernel version =)

'Unlucky numbers' or similar mumbo jumbo isn't the motivation behind the activity of most of the nerds.

Or to cite Volkerding: "If the kernel moves along swiftly enough to 2.6.42, the next one could be 14.42."

I don't think I have to explain "42" ;-)

It's good to know they're motivated by more important things like alternative spelling.

Or, if the next release took a long time to come, it could be 14.73.
