In general, we don't provide custom application support unless someone has some particular interest in taking the time (which can be significant...) in figuring out the the code base, & what would need to be required to modify it beyond the initial authors' intent.

You may be vastly underestimating the commitment needed to meet your request.

daemonfowl, your question is rather vague and lacking specifics, but it sounds like you're looking for a work-around. In that context I have an idea you might check out. I'm assuming you want to connect to a single news server (as opposed to many servers all over the 'net). If so, maybe you could run an stunnel client on your machine to convert http connections from snownews (with which I have no familiarity) to https connections to the news server. Just a thought ... I haven't tried this configuration specifically.

Hi IdOp ! thank you for the idea !
So far I've just tried canto and raggle (from ports) and both actually do what I need (eg. fetching https://www.schneier.com/blog/atom.xml )
I tried compiling Newsbeuter -the mutt of rss feed readers :-) - but failed due to ncursesw5 dependency lacking.

Thanks to the OpenBSD Team for providing a balanced choice of alternatives (some say there are but few packages there which is not true ) .. we're not missing anything vital :-)

I was in the land of Nod .. the packages does exist in www/ latest version 2.7 but segfaults on -current as I rload a url .. trying to build it for macppc I got stuck at the json-c thing.
