Do I need xsrc etc when updating a release?
Hey I followed the NetBSD guide but I'm left wondering if I'm told all I need to know to update the 5.1 release. In the current updating instructions you're told to download and update several sources but on the updating a stable NetBSD release page, you're only told to download the src directory via cvs. Is there something I'm missing? Or are all those tarballs for current the same as the single src directory? I'm wondering specifically about xsrc because I know that's a separate directory when you extract the tarballs.

I am new to NetBSD. I asked myself the same question when I decided to update my NetBSD for the first time. Apparently you need the "xsrc" sources if you're going to use X Window System. You put them in /usr, for example. After this you need to add the -x switch to build.sh script to build X11 from chosen directory (default: /usr/xsrc).
$ ./build.sh -O ../obj -T ../tools -U -x distribution These commands will compile NetBSD userland including "xsrc" |
