No fair changing names, Phoenix!! Now I won't know who is correcting me all the time when I post FreeBSD solutions to OpenBSD questions!

Default new theme

mmm, feels almost like bsdforum.org ... no ... its feels better.
congrats!

but something needs to be done about the theme it looks depressing.
we need something sexier ... <hint> Vermaden and other artists.

Carpetsmoker, it might be good to begin some sticky FAQ messages within each major division -- Free, Open, & Net. If the message is "owned" by you (or at least started by an Admin...), then it may appear more official.

Is there a way that such a message can be locked, but editable by selected people? I'm free associating here. Anyone else with ideas on how to make such living documents useful is encouraged to speak up...

Good, I was ashamed to look at your posts because you looked naked without it.

I added two themes these two looked the best, you can find more here:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=230
Keep in mind that vB 3.7 is only a few days old, so there aren't as many themes for it yet...

I will also be creating a new DaemonForums theme, but this will take several weeks, and there is also more important stuff to take care of first ...

Yes, I was planning on this ... I can create empty FAQ threads for now, but I don't have time to write the entries...

You mean more than just the mods and admins but not everybody?
I'm not sure, I will look at it..

Nor do I think you should. As each project has its own flavor, the FAQ for each collection of subforae should be distinctive. In particular, I would like to transfer jggimi's rules of engagement, & I have a number of PF links. I wouldn't expect you to know these...

Along moderator boundaries would probably be the easiest. I'll ping jggimi to see if he wants moderator status & have him get back to you if he does.

Ok, I am creating FAQ threads in every forum, and then "soft deleted" them, if a mod has something to put there they can undelete them ("manage->undelete").

I apologize for my part in straying from the original subject, but the topics covered in this thread are all over the place. Perhaps we need to exercise some discipline by staying on-topic. Other subjects deserve their own threads.

Thanks! As a low priority task, you might want to omit your tag-line in these FAQ's. It may confuse those where English is already a challenge.

So this is the new place to be huh? Look forward to helping build it up

PS - Thanks for the Solaris section. I'm currently working on getting my SCSA for Solaris 10, and will try to frequent the section.

Gotta say I'm really happy how everyone has pretty much moved over here from the old place.

Now to get the new traffic. While newbies are a mixed blessing, I find I learn a lot from some of the extended newbie threads. Something new for me always pops up.
