Default pppoa

My ISP insists on PPPOA, but the Fine Manual* waxes long on pppoe and mentions only the Speedtouch with pppoa.

So, am I destined to drop FreeBSD (which I'm loth to do) for an OS that can handle pppoa, or is there a workaround?

I've ordered a Linksys WAG200G modem/router, if that's at all relevant !

* edit: in fact it's confused me: could I use mpd and pptpclient, or just one of them ...

second edit: I had to remap my ethernet card (it was 192.168.1.1) with ifconfig 192.168.1.5 so that I could, bear with me, access the modem/router on 192.168.1.1 - next hurdle: the ADSL hasn't been switched on yet, so it remains to be seen whether the tinterweb pootles downstream to my screen !

The best way to find the answer to your question is perhaps try pptpclient

Code:
25.6.3 Using pptpclient
It is also possible to use FreeBSD to connect to other PPPoA services using net/pptpclient.
This is from the Handbook, but I believe you have already read it

thanks DNAeon - probably best to wait until I get the modem and ADSL connection - then I can pester the board with more questions and / or put up a "how to". The manual's references to Alcatel devices is confusing ...
