There was technical value in having the unique architecture in the pantheon, as it could highlight programming errors other architectures would not show. Emulation does not have the same functional value.
The discussion, I understand, was a cost benefit analysis of maintaining Project hardware. I saw a post from one of the developers yesterday on reddit noting that at this time, the project has not yet determined how they will build 5.9-release and packages for the vax. |
