Default Bad ftp performance

Now that I'm building from pkgsrc I remembered how bad my ftp performance is. It's so bad that I have to go find all the distfiles and download them through http on another box and mount an NFS share to build stuff on my NetBSD box. I have the problem with ftp on everything I use, not just NetBSD. I don't know if my ISP is throttling FTP or what.

Does anybody know how I can change pkgsrc to use HTTP instead and will that even work?

Or better yet, how I can diagnose what's happening?

Thanks.

P.S. Once I had the distfiles Firefox3 built in less than 20 minutes. Woo hoo! I love new hardware!!!
