Bus master DMA error occurs while executing newfs
An equivalent error occurs while trying to install FreeBSD to the same disk.
Do I need to check the disk integrity or can I pass a "DMA=off" or similar command? In both instances, I am using a CD install. |

I remember that the Gateway M275 being used is based upon the Toshiba Satellite design with a few modifications- certain Toshiba elements/controls will not work with it. Is it possible that using a passive FTP install would not cause such an error? Yes, I am looking for solutions and asking here at the same time. |

All that the Gateway document states are the PIO mode and support to ultradma 100. A thread on here lists what arguments one may be able to use on OpenBSD.
When I find a solution, could the posts be merged into a single one? |

Posts are atomic. Posts can be moved from one thread to another, but posts themselves cannot be merged together. If your concern is that all information stays together, this can/should be done at the thread level. As long as all posts made (pertaining to a single subject...) are posted to the same thread, this should meet your goal of consolidation.
