Default Slackware 15.0 released

A number of folks here (myself included) seem to use Slackware when using Linux. Probably they already know, but 15.0 has been released. It will be nice to get off the -current treadmill.

Well, as I had unsubscribed from slackware-announce and didn't check the newsgroup today; so I happen to have actually learned this from you, hence thanks. I've been running the beta for some time already, but I'm willing to perform a fresh install from the 15.0 .iso. Many thought this day would have never come.

Glad it was useful info for you.

I have noticed one problem. After the upgrade of the "ap/at" package of Jan 30, at jobs were no longer running properly. I had to revert to the package from Slackware 14.2. If it's not too late I'd advise keeping a copy of your beta at package in case you need to revert too.

Thanks. In all due honesty, I discovered the at(1) command only this year, IIRC, thanks to a reply by RVP@ on the netbsd-users mailing list. I didn't even know it was packaged for Slackware. Nice.

Compared with 14.2, 15.0 is a very big jump. Both are the most unixoid Linux systems, and that's what I like.

I upgraded 2 of 3 -current units to Slackware64-15.0. I'm leaving one unit on -current. A stable, stellar release. I'm posting this from my T410 Thinkpad running FreeBSD 13.0.

Slackware 15 VM running on QEMU/NVMM (NetBSD/amd64 host). Retro FVWM theme to honor that of Slackware 1.1.2.
Listening to aNONradio on XMMS by having qemu redirect OSS output to /dev/audio. Performance is good with 2 dedicated cores and 4G of RAM.
