Looks like the bsdnow.tv folks got their tutorial right then. That's exactly how I did it. I think the problem fundamentally is stated by this on the iPXE.org site (ipxe.org/err/2e0080): Quote:

Ah. Well, then, it's coming. It's just not here yet.
The amd64 architecture has just had its first few commits aimed at eventual UEFI support. In April, support for an efi-app-x86_64 target to was added to binutils, needed for eventual bootloader support. And two days ago, commits went in for the GENERIC kernel, which added a disabled option to eventually allow for boot from UEFI, and a UEFI frame buffer driver also was added.
