Default xenodm not starting at boot

Hello, when I boot up xenodm does not start and show up even though I ran rcctl enable xenodm. It shows xenodm in starting local daemons but it doesn’t start it. Running rcctl start xenodm just runs back “ok” and running xenodm as root does nothing. I would just use startx but it won’t work either(I think that’s on purpose). I also tried reinstalling but that didn’t help. Thanks for any help and I’m. Posting this from my phone since it’s probably easier than doing it from links.

  1. Double-check /etc/rc.conf.local, confirm that there is a line that shows:
This is just to ensure that it is provisioned to start during boot.
  2. Read through /var/log/xenodm.log -- any failure to launch will likely show up here.
  3. Read through /var/log/Xorg.0.log -- look for errors -- these are flagged with "(EE)". This log will also indicate how X Windows is provisioned -- both automatically through discovery as well as manually through any manual configuration settings you may have made.
There are some common reasons for failure -- these come immediately to mind:
  • A video card that is unsupported, forcing the use of the vesa(4) driver. On many architectures, using the VESA driver requires provisioning the kernel's xf86(4) aperture driver to permit direct memory access via /etc/sysctl.conf, with
  • Having a Radeon video card but missing Radeon firmware, which must be installed via fw_update(1).
