Default CD/DVD burner becomes unresponsive after burncd

I'm having problems reading or ripping CDs after successfully burning other CDs. The sequence is typically ripping a CD with cdparanoia, burning an audio CD with burncd, and then trying to rip another CD. That second rip fails, and "cdparanoia -vsQ" returns:

Checking /dev/cd0 for cdrom...

CDROM model sensed: ATAPI DVD A DH20A4P 9P59

Checking for ATAPICAM...
Drive is ATAPI (using ATAPICAM)

Checking for MMC style command set...
Drive is MMC style
004: Unable to read table of contents header

Unable to open disc. Is there an audio CD in the drive?
It's like the drive stops refreshing after a burn and eject. A reboot restores functionality, but that's not a great solution. I'd believe that it's a hardware problem, but I'm wondering if there's a command to manually "wake" the drive or something along those lines. Thanks in advance.

Try disabling DMA for the CD drive. Add the following line to /boot/loader.conf:
Code:
hw.ata.atapi_dma="0"
Reboot.

Perfect, that seemed to do the trick! Thanks for the tip.
