Default 5.9 release pre-orders now available

The OpenBSD Journal article is very short, but I'll quote three things from it:
Quote:
The number of changes since 5.8 was released is massive.
Indeed. The article links to the release announcement with a summary of the changes. It's a lot.
Quote:
Roughly 70% of the userland utilities have gotten the pledge(2) treatment....A few choice ports were also adapted to use it.
One of my (few) ports was pledged, discussed in this thread.

Hit up openbsdstore.com to order your copy right now! You might even receive the goods before the official release date... But of course, if CDs aren't your thing, you can always just make a donation to help support the project instead. The stickers are pretty sweet though.
You can do both, as Foundation donations and CD sales income are managed separately.

I've purchased CDs, even without a working optical drive here in my parts bin at what, for lack of a better phrase, I'll call jggimi's Used Computer Corral.

That's great. But isn't it usual ?
I mean, winter is a better worktime than summer, right ?
It's easier to stay home and work when weather is cold and rainy

It depends on the hemisphere a developer lives in.

I am ever ready to buy the CDs provided that:

1. No CDs are delivered to me. They could be tampered with or switched for some containing malware before they reached my home.

2. A https website with secure login from which I can download the exact mirror images of the physical CDs. Hashsums of SHA256 digests or above are welcomed.

The advantages of accepting my suggestions above actually accrue to the people pressing and selling the CDs such as:

1. Save time, labour and delivery charges of the physical CDs

2. Extremely friendly to the environment as there's no need for owners of used CDs to find ways to dispose of them.

3. Inhabitants of low-lying islands and atolls will be eternally grateful to you for your climate-friendly practices. (You'll know what I mean if you'd watched the 88th Academy Awards presentation on February 28 and listened to what Leonardo Dicaprio said about climate change during his thank-you-acceptance speech when he won an Oscar for "The Revenant".)

As quoted in the top post from the Journal, you can donate to the project through the Foundation. You may also donate to the Project directly, without ordering any CDs.
