Default Mono development On FreeBSD

Is anyone doing any Mono development with FreeBSD? If so what are you using for an IDE. I've downloaded Monodevelop and compiled it, but it doesn't seem to work correctly.

There also doesn't seem to be much action at the official mono:freebsd site either.

I'd think I'd go insane trying to learn the 1/2 trillion cases by heart to use something like vim.

We're switching to C# .NET at work so I figure doing mono at home on BSD would make it less painful.

AFAIK mono doesn't support the latest .NET environment so you'll have to be careful which methods you're using. eg. it wont support linq at the moment.

Mono isn't so bad for C# ... it's just not great for things like ASP.NET and i believe you need an add on to support windows forms

I'm not going to be doing any ASP.NET, thankfully.

I'm not much of a fan of LINQ or windows forms from what I've tried of both so far. I wanted to switch are desktop development to Python but our most senior lead insisted on having something with and IDE that allowed for component based design of GUIs.

Kind of pissed me off since I do 90% of the desktop apps and everyone else our SQL programmers and DBAs.
