Question Trouble getting Gnome3 to work

I downloaded Gnome3,then followed this article(which worked perfectly for OpenBSD 5.7),but,it didn't work in 5.8 for some reason.

This was the article I followed:

http://undeadly.org/cgi?action=article&sid=20140219085851

I get error messages about messagebus_daemon,and avahi daemon being absent.

I watched the download carefully and the only error I noted was: "warning /var/gdm doesn't exist" and something about a -m switch.

Thankfully,I can just put xdm flags back to default and still boot OpenBSD X window for now.

There have been some interim changes that would be encapsulated in /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/gnome.....

The gnome maintainers religiously update that file rather than re-writting undeadly articles.

I note that, according to this link at the bottom of the undeadly.org article I previously posted.

Now at the bottom,we have:

Cheat sheet
===========
# rcctl disable xdm
# rcctl enable multicast messagebus avahi_daemon gdm
# reboot

When I typed the last t line and hit ENTER,I get an error message about:

#rcctl: service multicast does not exist

For 5.8, the keyword is "multicast_host"

That will change for 5.9 in a few months, as both multicast_host and multicast_router are being combined into a single simple multicast knob.

For the best results possible, please review the OpenBSD-specific README file that gets installed into /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/. For every release, accurate and correct provisioning information is provided.

Thanks! GOT IT WORKING!!!

I reviewed my original link, plus the one I posted, and the directory link. Some differences puzzled me at first.

At first I couldn't figure out the difference between the "cheat sheet" and the doc/..gnome/....command suggestion.

I did this:
Code:
#rcctl disable xdm
(I noted the change in /etc/rc.conf.local)
#rcctl enable multicast_host
#rcctl messagebus
#rcctl avahi_daemon
#rcctl gdm
#reboot
(I noted no error after each item,so I knew I was onto something.therefore I continued!)

Gnome3 is now up.
Sound is good.
We're rocking! :-)
