Default cron newsyslog message

Hey all, I'm getting the following email from Cron and I was wondering if anyone has run into it before:

Code:
newsyslog: can't open pid file: /var/run/syslog.pid: No such file or directory
newsyslog: log /var/log/maillog.0 not compressed because daemon(s) not notified
I'm not really sure what to do to resolve this. I'm assuming some daemon is attempting to write a log via syslog but failing somehow. Thanks all!
