Default Sound Problem.

Hi.

For some reason I can't use the software volume on my programs -
Mplayer, Xmms & audacious. My sound card is working (read the faq on
setting up the sound-card) Un-muted everything and set the correct
volume levels..

I have to control the sound volume from the speakers, a bit of a hassle
since my speakers aren't within reaching distance.

Any idea how to fix this?

TIA..

P.S.

I installed the audacious-plugins, still no luck..
