Default Konqueror and Java applets

I have never paid much attention to Konqueror browser but today while we discussed browser options for Sparc64 I noticed that Konqueror has built in Java virtual machine at least for Java applets. I have never been aware of that fact. If that is true I might make Konqueror my default browser in particular in the light of the fact that Opera's days on OpenBSD seems are gone. I do not use Java very often but when I do I hate to waist 3 hours to compile JRE and Firefox just to see an applet or two.

Could people kindly share their experience using Konqueror to see Java applets?

The Java build process on FreeBSD for SPARC64 is at 8.0.

Also KDE3 &4 are not building too well on SPARC64.
I haven't tried Midori with Java. Xxxterm does not compile on FreeBSD SPARC64.

Some weeks ago, I tried out that open-jdk binary. It could only run simple java programs. It crashed on larger java programs such as jap.

Actually, I realized that Konqueror doesn't require plug-in but does not have a built in virtual machine. It calls an outside virtual machine. In above cases IcedTea as oppose to Sun's.
