cd gone during install 5.9
Hi,
Apologies for the stenography style typing, I find long stories distracting in technical threads. I am native Dutch, so English is my 2nd lang. Up to now I only installed OpenBSD on virtual machines (100% success). the strangest thing: Attempt to install 5.9 on an HP DL380 Gen7 (amd64) /w 48G RAM & 600G HD. no networking attached, since it will replace a currently running system Boot from CD is fine, all the way through disklabel. when the install process reaches the software selection section, "cd" is not among the suggestions.. disk http are the only ones. well the disk has just been erased, and http is not reachable. Can someone point me in the direction, to complete this installation? Attempted to put all tgz's on an USB stick, but that was not recognized either (in dmesg) Thnx 4urtime Last edited by KasperH; 19th May 2016 at 11:28 AM. Reason: additional info added/typo fixed |

I'm guessing that the CD drive is not recognized during installation. You can check by dropping to the Shell and reviewing the dmesg output.
If you are satisfied that OpenBSD will run on your hardware, you can install from a USB thumb drive. See the OpenBSD installation FAQ. Last edited by shep; 15th May 2016 at 01:06 PM. Reason: Removed non-functioning oman BB code |

Are you sure that image is correct? You can check it by SHA256 sums or even better by signify(1), which will also can let you check if image was tampered by someone, assuming you have trusted source of OpenBSD's base public key.

Sorry, I did not write down all what happened then (last week wednesday). the "server under investigation" is in a tough accessible location (physical and network wise), with limited tools for me to work, when I'm there. After a meeting today, it was decided to route external networking, and temporarily open the ports needed for install, so when this happens, I can continue |

the image worked like a charm while installing on a vbox, got it from nluug.nl
