Default preserving editor files now takes a much longer time

Hi everybody !

What makes the boot stop at 'preserving editor files' .. now taking longer than expected (eg. on iBook G4 running -current it takes about 2 mn .. but also used to happened on i386 before)
This is not the case after fresh installs .. only later does it happen .

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks

Per the third citation, Philip Guenther states:
Quote:
That just means the system went down while someone had a file open in
vi, so you have vi save files in /var/tmp/vi.recover/ and the system
at that moment in the start up is generating email messages to the
owners of the files saying "run vi -r".
