custom kernel problem
Hi people,
i have problem and found some articles about that on few forums. On my FBSD 8.0 machine using custom kernel. Binary update have patches for kernel, and install me new generic kernel. I found article from few users who have custom kernel, and read it should download kernel source with cvs. Using cvs i configure all with handbook RELENG_8_0, but when install kernel and run binary update he install again new generic kernel. |

Implication: You have to rebuild your custom kernel if the sources have been updated.

First i run binary update and rewrite my kernel with generic. After downloading source RELENG_8_0, compile and install kernel all is ok. Next time when start binary update i got generic kernel again. Why binary update again rewrite my kernel with generic? Does not equal binary update kernel and kernel compiled from source RELENG_8_0?

I thought that if i compile kernel from source RELENG_8_0 that freebsd-update view that kernel is updated and not rewrite. I do not understand just what is the difference kernel from binary and kernel from RELENG_8_0? I now edit conf file.
